- Dream Your Next Destination With the Tarot
“We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.” The World changed in 2020, and travel took a hit. However, with the coming of the vaccine, the hope is that the world will slowly pick up the pace and travel will resume. Whilst we wait for some restrictions to relax we definitely have the Tarot to help us dream!! The Tarot is such a rich spiritual tool that using it for predictive readings is like using an advanced Artificial Intelligence system to do kindergarten math!! So how then may we use the Tarot to dream? The Tarot is an excellent device to dive into the culture of another civilization or people. The Ancient Egyptian Tarot is rich in its symbolism from the amazing tomb paintings and the tapestry of stories from the mythology of Egypt. If you find Egyptian Afterlife interesting, why not delve into the Ancient Egyptian-based Tarot and have a background of research before you can travel again. If Greek and Roman Mythology call to you more, then I recommend looking up the Mythic Tarot or the Tarot Apokalypsis which showcase stories from Roman, Eastern, Norse and Chinese Mythologies. If the arts are more your scene, and you cannot wait to go stand in the hallowed embrace of the Sistine Chapel and see the glorious artworks of the great Renaissance Masters, may I suggest venturing into a Tarot Store and getting your hands on decks inspired by artworks of the past? The Botticelli Tarot uses the imagery from the works by Sandro Botticelli and it was a lovely holiday project for me and my children to see which paintings were used to illustrate the cards. The Pre-Raphaelite Tarot, The Golden Tarot of the Renaissance are all period paintings tied in to form a deck and communicate a story within the framework of another Narrative. If Modern Art is more appealing to you, there are many minimalistic decks available. I was very pleased to be introduced to the works of Mucha (1860-1939), via the Tarot, and he is the Art Nouveau Style. If you are allured by the sand dunes and magical stories of the Middle East may I suggest the Tarot of 1001 Arabian Nights!! Oh, the list is as vast as the world, covering cultures, folk and faerie tales, wilderness, deep-sea; literary and fictional figures and even mythic beasts. One does not need to be intuitive to study the tarot. We are all born with sixth-sense and over time the use of the Tarot builds our perception much in the manner in which the gym builds our muscles. The Tarot can be for now the diving board to dreams of faraway places that hold special significance for you. In time, when you look through your cards, you will realize that they are connected to the collective unconscious and have so much to offer to you. All you need is, a deck that calls to you, and there are plenty to search through. They all come with a little book and that is usually self informative. There you can begin and dive off, into the greatest adventure of your soul. And in time when the world resumes, you are ready to travel to those destinations that have whispered their secrets via the cards to your soul! Dream Your Next Destination with the Tarot! - The Year of the White Metal Ox. 12 February 2021- Happy Chinese Lunar Year 恭喜发财 Gōngxǐ fācái
What is the Chinese Zodiac? Chinese Astrology is based on the theory of the Life Force known as the “Chi” or “Qi”. While Vedic astrology focuses on the heavens and the true position of the planets, Western Astrology is based on arbitrary positions. The Chinese Zodiac is based on the Life Force as carried in the Twelve Animals, who turned up for the Great Race. These Animals in order of their appearance are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. In addition to the twelve animals, there are five elements that are essential as per the Ancient Chinese. These elements which are the basis of Feng-Shui as well, are Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Metal. Together the twelve animals and the five elements form a Sixty-year cycle, which completes the Chinese Zodiac. For Example-2020 was the year of the Metal Rat, and 2021 is the year of the Metal Ox. The last year of the Metal Ox was in 1961. How were the animals of the Chinese Zodiac Chosen? There are many versions of the story of the Chinese Zodiac, so I will recount the one I love. What is common in all the legends is, that the Jade Emperor, or the Emperor of Heaven, in the Chinese Folklore, decreed that he needed to have a zodiac set up and that the first twelve animals to reach him would be the ones that would be immortalised in the Zodiac for eons to come. The myths also agree on the sequence in which the animals came, to the Jade Emperor to be immortalised and take their place in the Chinese Zodiac. While the accounts differ, a third thing that all the versions of the folk-lore agree on is that the Rat cheated the Cat, and hence they are life long enemies. In some versions, the Rat was to wake up the cat for the race and he forgot, and in others, they set out together, but the Rat selfishly left the Cat behind. The Great Race of the Chinese Zodiac Long Long ago, when the world was young, The Jade Emperor in Heaven decided that his Zodiac would consist of twelve animals. Messengers were sent to set the date of the great race. Only the first twelve animals would be immortalised. All the animals had lofty goals. The Rat was the first to wake up and he began to run. In this version, the Rat did wake up the Cat and they set out together. The race was the likes of the modern-day races, and the animals also had to cross a raging river to get to the other side. The Cat and the Rat befriended the simple-minded, hardworking Ox on the bank of the river, and hopped on its back. The Ox thought it would be the first to arrive, but the Rat jumped of his nose and reached the Emperor First. The poor drenched cat did not stand much of a chance and had fallen off the back while the Ox swam across. So the Rat came in First, and the Ox came in Second. In the Third place came the Tiger, exhausted from crossing the raging river. The Fourth was the nimble Rabbit, who almost drowned while crossing the river, but chanced upon a log and clung to it, till a gust of wind blew the log to the shore. The Fifth was the Dragon, the mighty auspicious beast. The Jade Emperor was understandably surprised as to why he would be Fifth when he did not need to run over the land and swim through a deluge. The Dragon humbly replied that he was busy creating rain for a village that would have perished for its want of water. Whilst he was on his way to the Jade Emperor, he saw a poor frightened Rabbit clinging on to a log for dear life and blew him to the shore, thereby coming in Fifth. Then came the Horse, but he had a Snake clinging to his hoof. The Snake gave the Horse such a shock that the Horse stumbled backward, making the Snake the Sixth Winner. The Horse thus came in Seventh. He was followed by the Goat, Monkey and Rooster who helped each other and came in Eighth, Ninth and Tenth respectively. Then came the Dog at Number Eleven. Even though he was a good swimmer, he could not resist the urge to play around some more in the water and lost track of time. Finally, the Pig came rushing in and breathed a sigh of relief that he made it into the lucky Twelve. The Cat came in Thirteenth and did not make it into the Zodiac. It did however become the mortal enemy of the Rat forevermore. What to Expect in the Year of the White Metal Ox? How will 2021 pan out? After a harrowing year, 2021 is being ushered in with a lot of hope. The Ox is revered in many cultures for its tenacity, simplicity, hard work and endurance. The Chinese culture views the Ox in the same manner. Feng-Shui experts insist that the Year of the White Metal Ox will be auspicious and “lucky”. Yay!! That’s finally some good news. The Ox is hardworking, keeps its head to the ground and pulls the plough without complaining. He is the back on which civilization has been built. This is a year to put your nose to the wheel and work hard. Like the Ox works tirelessly without complaints, carry on without really engaging in any kind of low vibe drama. This is the time to adhere to discipline and do one's duty. Metal is supposed to be shiny and clean so good luck follows cleanliness. Metal also is the main component in electronics and this will be as per Metal Ox a good year for the internet! As per the Numerological Value, 2021=5=Year ruled by Mercury that also rules over the Internet! So here is to putting our nose to the grind and working hard for the Metal Ox starts the 12-year cycle wherein we shall feel the benefits for a long long time to come. According to Chinese Geomancy: 1. Do not give out money on the 12th of February. It is the day that marks a new cycle so make sure that it is one of growth. 2. This is not a great year to start something new. The tolerance and fortitude of the Ox will push doors open. It will ensure fertile soil for your plans to take root. Work on the soil this year. 3.Things to ponder on in the Year of the White Metal Ox. 1. What are my goals this year? 2. What do I need to push through? 3. What will call upon me to have the endurance to see it to fruition? Chinese New Year, is a time for family and friends to call on each other and make some family time. In Singapore, the Lion dance is performed where the dancers move with agility and call in good fortune for the people who commissioned the dance. It is accompanied by the beating of drums. Lion dance has its roots in the Tang Dynasty (618-906 AD) when the Emperor dreamt about a strange beast which turned out to be the Lion. The lion dance is performed by Kung-Fu styled artists and it is supposed to chase away spirits and usher in good luck. The Lion is gifted lettuce and oranges. Lettuce symbolises wealth. I wish you all 恭喜发财 Gōngxǐ fācái, and leave you with a clip of the Lion Dance (video courtesy of my lovely neighbor Joyce). Have a Wonderful Year and Blessed Be!
- 2021 The Year of The Hierophant
Happy New Year! And Welcome to 2021. 2021 is an energy (2+0+2+1=5) 5 year. 5 is a number that is all about change, a number that the Tarot attributes to the Hierophant- which talks about our spiritual and personal beliefs. 5 is a prominent number, it binds the building blocks of the natural world (the elements earth, air, water and fire) blending it with the spirit, soul or life force. The Ancient Greeks associated the number 5 to the sacred union, or hieros gamos, which is the marriage of heaven and earth. 5 is a magical number in many cultures. It is a number revered by the Wiccans, the Ancient Babylonians, and the Freemasons in the form of the Pentagram or the Five-Pointed Star. The number 5 represents the 5 wounds of Christ, thus tying the number to our spiritual and religious beliefs. There are 5 elements in the Chinese tradition, namely: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. 5 is the number of humanity if we count the head and the limbs together as the 5 appendages. In addition, we have 5 fingers on each hand and 5 toes on each foot. 2021 is the Year Of The Hierophant. This means that this year, our beliefs will be tested. We will need to push ourselves out of our comfort zones to see what works for us and which beliefs are now redundant. 2021 is an ideal time to rethink our beliefs and values because the Pandemic has changed the world so much that what was conventional before 2020 is unlikely to hold for now. This is a year for learning, maybe even formal study via an institution and of growth bolstered with that learning. The Hierophant leads his disciples on to higher learning, teaching them about laws, religious morals, spiritual concepts and what is acceptable. 2020, the Year of the Emperor, tested how we handled power, discipline and boundaries. On the global level, this resulted in governments being tested- and on a personal level, with work from home, we have all established our personal boundaries and reclaimed our personal power. The Hierophant year will make us do heavy essential soul work. We will be called to trust in our intuition. It is the year where we clear the old belief systems thereby stripping away antiquated forms of jurisdictions- personal, professional, political as well as global, taking back our freedom in the process. This is the year where our own Hierophant will rise. We will take responsibility for our beliefs, thoughts and perceptions, attempting to see the world not through a predetermined lens but through the vision of our own authentic truth. What we can do is truly see into our souls to determine, what we hold dear, what we would like to gift to our progeny and what needs to go. The Pandemic of 1918, gave rise to growth, leading to the Great Depression. Historic periods of time can change the face of the world forever. We have lived through 2020, and been thrust into 2021- a thought changer and an impetus of change. The number 5 year and the universal teacher, Saturn in Aquarius, are going to see us through this change. Wishing you a Healing, Hopeful, Prosperous and Happy 2021. -Kamal Bhogal Bhatia Urban Soul Tarot https://www.urbansoultarot.com/ The Card is from the Light Seer's Tarot by Chris-Anne. - Card of the Day Christmas 25 December 2020 The Wheel of Fortune
This has been an exceptional year, a year like none other. Beginning with the Bush fires of Australia, which devastated the landscape, and killed thousands of animals, followed by the global pandemic , racial injustices , the death of so many talented people, the plague of the locusts, even the discovery of new species. This year has had it all. It finally draws to an end with the sighting of the Star Of Bethlehem . Maybe the Star graced us to let us know that we have a lot of redeeming qualities , and our goodness may yet triumph. We are all adapting to a new normal, and the appearance of this amazing omen, tells us, we will thrive. Being locked in we have been forced to contemplate about the things that matter, and hopefully when the world opens up kindness and care for others will top that list . So for all of us, who have had a rough year, you are not alone. We are all connected and we shall get through this together. Our planet has been trying to heal and hopefully, we shall continue down that path. Wishing you all, a Very Healing Loving Peaceful Christmas, where the grace of God or the universe fills your heart with love, and the sorrows are set off with gratitude for the lessons they taught us. I've spent more than half my life reading the cards, and I am so often blown away by the manner in which the universe synchronously leads us down our path . The past couple of months however have really humbled me so much more. Trying to bring together different systems to form a road map of where we are headed on a universal path, it is amazing how the readings be it oracular, Taoist, Vedic, Astrologic, Buddhist, I-Ching, Hunab-Ku, Tarot, or Runic tie in so beautifully that they look staged. The Christmas Card for the day could not have been more Staged!! I randomly pulled the Wheel of Fortune out from my deck and thought of how fitting it was. The Wheel of Fortune - The connection we all have, reminds us that things will move now. A change is on the way . For the Christmas reading, however, I did cheat!! The Wheel lets us know that things are moving now , but it does not indicate whether we are rising up with the wheel or on our way down. So today when I drew the Wheel for Christmas, I had to pull out another card to see how the Wheel is turning universally for us all , and I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the T en Of Cups . The Ten of Cups carries in it joy which comes from relationships and within, and bears on it the Rainbow, which is the covenant that God would not destroy the earth through a flood again. " I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth."-Genesis 9:13. I thought about the Christmas Star appearing after 1226 , reminding us that God will in his infinite grace still maintain a covenant with us. And the Reading bodes well that with Love we shall all pull through. We are at rock bottom and the only way we go now is up!! So here's to wishing the world a Merry Christmas and to our Card of the Day. This is possibly one of the more enigmatic cards of the Major Arcana. The Wheel brings to mind the fact that we are all connected. All of life is connected . This card is an amalgamation of symbolism, from Ancient Egypt, Greece, the Bible, and Alchemy, which is so fitting since it shows how truly connected we are!! The Letters on the Wheel read ROTA TARO ORAT TORA ATOR . This means The Wheel (ROTA) of the Tarot ( TARO) speaks (ORAT) the Law (TORA) of Hathor (ATOR). Hathor was an Egyptian goddess who in this case personifies divine justice. The Wheel is borne on the back of the Egyptian jackal god of the underworld Anubis . On the Wheel rides the Sphinx from Greek Mythology with a sword, for only she knows when she is ready to cut you off from the wheel. The Serpent from Biblical myth or for that matter Hindu and Eastern Mythology is on its way down to await its rebirth. On the four corners lie the four fixed signs of the zodiac , and the four creatures from the vision of the prophet Ezekiel . The wheel bears alchemical signs that compose life. What then is the wheel and what is the law of Hathor? The wheel is t he connection of all life and the cyclic change that we go through. It talks about the ups and highs we achieve and the downs we must weather in order to live . The East calls this the concept of Karma . The Wheel is set into motion by our deeds , how the wheel turns then, is determined by what we did, and the actions that set the wheel turning are known as Karma . The entire E astern Philosophy is geared to teaching us how to survive the momentum of the wheel. We are bound to break if we got rolling on the Wheel while living on the rim . Living on the rim means experiencing acutely the joys and sorrows of life. Eastern Philosophies such as Hindusim, Sikhism, Jainism, and Buddhism teach us that to be sane we must practice detachment and that we need to live at the hub which remains stationary when the wheel is moving. We are all old souls, and we create Karma. There is so much baggage that we can create in one lifetime that the universe in its magnanimity does not really give us the memories of baggage from another lifetime. As the Philosopher, Locke mentions that when we are born we are Tabula Rasa or clean slate on which we imprint experiences. The Wheel reminds us that we are connected, that life is based on the deeds we do and the connections we make and the Karma we are involved with. To live through this life with peace, we need to learn to live at the hub. Living at the hub means, that no joy sweeps us off our feet, and no sorrow breaks us. When something happens, Good or Bad, we need to remind ourselves that- "This too shall pass!" The phrase "This too shall pass" i s popular in Hindu Philosophy. It has been said that someone once asked Krishna to mention one phrase which could fit any situation in life and this was his key phrase. And what a glorious saying it is- There is no sorrow that will stay forever, and no joy that can hold on. Whether you will a situation to stay or move the only thing inevitable is change and we shall all move . How shall we live at the hub? We all need to work our own way. The Tarot is a wonderful teacher and my method of accessing the hub has been through the Seven Of Pentacles , or the card that tells us to do our duties and live in the moment. The past doesn't matter anymore for it is over. The Future is not in our hands. To live, we need to create and to work. What better to do than the duties allocated to us, live in the moment, let go of the past, and hold no expectations of the future, and then to constantly remind the ego that we need to live at the hub!! For this year then, The Wheel of Fortune is a welcome sign. It affirms that This too shall pass! ! My Cheat card says, Yes!! We have a better future coming, so hang in there, live the spirit of Christmas and Blessed Be!! Merry Xmas! Images Used on The Site. - The Star Of Bethlehem 21 December 2020
December 21st is the day of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. The Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern hemisphere is the latitude that feels the direct rays of the Sun during the Solstice. It marks the beginning of summer in the Southern hemisphere and the beginning of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere. This year December 21st is so much more than that pagan celebration This year, after all that soul searching, mayhem and growth, we shall be graced by the Star of Bethlehem. Jupiter and Saturn the titans of our solar system have been moving towards each other and on the 21st of December, they will align and be separated by just 0.1 degrees from our vantage point on earth. The planets line up every 20 years but they have not had a conjunction in an air sign for the last 200 years. The last conjunction in Aquarius was in 1623 A.D., almost 400 years ago. If that wasn't rare enough, we have lived through 2020, a year that will go down in history as extraordinary and a precursor to major change. On the 21st Of December we shall be graced with an extraordinary phenomenon, Jupiter and Saturn will be closer than they have been at any other time in history since 1226 A.D. This Christmas Star appearing so close to Christmas is a real harbinger of hope There is something magical about being under the same sky as the one that led the Magi to the baby Christ. This is also life-altering since the two plants are the Giants of our solar system. Jupiter the behemoth, is the planet of expansion, of good luck and is considered to be benevolent in Vedic Astrology. Saturn on the other hand is known for its constricting influence. It subjects one to limitations, and boundaries and forces us to take pride in ourselves and step up to the responsibility. So what would this conjunction of opposing planets mean? Saturn has spent a year in Capricorn. It has been turning up the heat to make sure we do the tasks that enable our self-growth. For those who have walked the path, Jupiter is waiting to reward them. Others who have yet to step up still have a lot of proving to do!! 2021, is a number 5 year. It is the year of the Hierophant! The vibe of 2021, of Soul searching and looking at our spiritual beliefs, begins with the Great Conjunction as this meeting of Jupiter - Saturn is known. Be ready for a year that will see a major transformation of awareness, and recognition of mindfulness and will focus on the altruism of Aquarius. When Saturn enters Aquarius which it did on 16th December, it really demands us to be analytically censorious of our thoughts. Astrologically as well, we are going to be going through the phase where we are going to be going inwards and seeing what holds up to fine scrutiny and what needs to go. Jupiter stepped out of Capricorn, and into Aquarius on 19th December. Since Capricorn was really reining in the mojo and vibe of Jupiter, we shall now see things begin to move. Of course, since Saturn moved into Aquarius, and Aquarius itself is insightful, Jupiter will give a thrust to those projects that have substance. So here's to wishing that the Great Conjunction and the Star of Bethlehem do shower some magic into our lives and lead us on with hope!! Blessed Be! Light Seer's Tarot By Chris-Anne.
- Count Down to 2021
12 days left to go before we leave 2020 behind. What a year this has been. It has been a year of senseless loss, and worldwide grief. We would not wish this on anyone, and yet 2020 had its gifts! We have seen great acts of kindness as complete strangers came forward to brighten spirits. 2020, brought out the humanity of the human race, in the manner, in which volunteers have stepped up putting their own safety and needs behind them. The Earth had the time to breathe, and nature began sprouting in the most unusual places. New Species were discovered. Dolphins came out to play, and deer have gone chocolate shopping! Leopards have been roaming the streets and Nature has been rejoicing the quiet too. It has been a year where neighbours have sang to keep the other's spirit up and have played bingo from balconies, simply to share and offer a human connection. It’s been a year where we have individually realized how little we need, and how much of what we have is excess. Being healthy, alive and having someone to love and being loved back is the world's greatest gift. We have all come into our own personal power and we have grown. Being locked in and being turned inward day after day has not been easy to start with but we have all gone within and returned wiser and we have more understanding of how much our relationships have value. It hasn’t been rainbows and butterflies. Change is never easy, and even the most joyous birth is accompanied by blood and tears. We are still fortunate when we compare our pandemic to 1918. We have had better medical facilities, historical data to look back at, and the Internet. We’ve been connected to our loved ones whether near or far and people have stepped in to charitably offer classes and emotional help via the world wide web! Astrologically this year has also been unprecedented. The Saturn and Pluto conjunction in Capricorn took place in January 2020. Capricorn is the most restrictive, yet hard-working sign of the zodiac. Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn and he has been in his own home, this whole year!! Finally, Saturn is in Aquarius so we can all breathe!! The last conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn was in 1518. We are soon heading towards the conjunction of the Titan Jupiter with Saturn in Aquarius the Thinker. This would mean that the focus will shift from the material world view to mental clarity and focus. Being a 5 energy year, ruled by The Hierophant, we shall realize that in 2021 our beliefs will be tested and will change or grow. There will be learning to that effect from our greatest teacher Life!! Jupiter and Saturn are in their first conjunction since 2000 since they are conjunct every 20 years but they are meeting up in an air sign after 200 years!! There’s so much to say about this!! Jupiter is the planet of optimism and good luck and Saturn gives structure, so this is the start of an era!! Our Cosmos is super busy this December 21’st but more on that later!! For today we, give gratitude and thank the universe for its gifts in an extremely trying year.
- Your Personal Life Story Coach-Live your best life!
We need to forget what we think we are, so that we can really become what we are. – Paulo Coelho We are all Spiritual beings, living a physical existence. Every now and then we do deplete our energy and need some assistance to cleanse our chi and guidance to bring our consciousness back to the things that give us joy. Sometimes that may involve reaching out for help to trained professionals who can aid us to be the best versions of ourselves . What then is Life Story Coaching ? It is the tool by which the Coach or guide can help the client, achieve their own potential by helping them enlargen their vision by rewriting the stories that they deliberately tell themselves . These stories keep people stuck in a rut, replaying the same patterns and making the same mistakes time and time again. The coach, therefore, supports the client, by helping them shine a light on their own issues from different perspectives. These angles are discovered through questioning and empowering activities. In turn, this helps the client push through their limiting beliefs and begin to see the world from a perspective, wherein they can actually live the life they want . It is a satisfying career to walk people through the transformation that opens their lives to receiving, joy and abundance. The Tarot is a personal life coach that can go everywhere with you. I work with the Lenormand, which is a brilliant tool for fortune-telling and a heads-up on what is coming up soon. However, while the Tarot does have a predictive function, it is an excellent tool for transformation. The Tarot works on the principle of synchronicity and a randomly drawn card will resonate with what your unconscious or your higher guides need to communicate to you. Carl Jung was the student of the tarot and he called the symbols a part of the collective unconscious . Carl Jung is known for his theory of archetypes by which we identify and relate to our world. The Oxford dictionary defines an Archetype " in Jungian theory, as a primitive mental image inherited from the earliest human ancestors, and supposed to be present in the collective unconscious " These Archetypes include the mother, the father, the teacher, the lover, the self, the child, and so on. With the use of the Tarot for yourself, it is possible to identify patterns that are self-effacing and hold you back. Identifying the patterns is the logical stepping stone to releasing emotional baggage , pain and the "stories" that do not serve you anymore. The imagery of the Tarot easily taps into experiences that are cumbersome or lack the vocabulary to be verbalized. The Tarot helps find the core of you, the inner guide, call it your divinity, sub-conscious, or self-talk and puts it back in the seat of power so that the inner critic can be quietened and rendered powerless . It maps the inner landscape in the same manner as the Rorschach inkblots or the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) and gives you an insight into your secret inner world . It brings to light your shadows and highlights the aspects of yourselves that would benefit from some work. The images from the Tarot are universal and thus already have the framework for working on your inner landscape. By helping identify your limiting beliefs , the Tarot opens up new doors and ushers in confidence and synchronicities with positive life-changing experience s. During the most challenging of times, the guidance from the Tarot is like the North Star that is steady and ever there. It is the friend and guide that you can carry in the car, in your purse, in the bookshelf or the cupboard, or even in the diaper bag while rushing out for an older child's classes!! And what a glorious mentor it is! It helps you t o live in alignment with your soul's plan for you , thereby giving you the opportunity to be your most successful, authentic self. By helping and showing you how to push the boundaries, the Tarot also consciously helps you to be the architect of your own destiny . Over the Coming Month, I shall be adding in Daily Guidance Tools that you can follow, without prior knowledge of Tarot. You could use a deck, if you use Tarot cards, or even pair the exercises with Oracle or Angel cards. We have the greatest tool for healing ourselves. If we can all heal together, we make the world a beautiful place. Sources : Nichols, S. (1980). Jung and Tarot: An Archetypal Journey . Maine: Samuel Weiser, Inc. December is the time for you to have fun, taking pride in your accomplishments. This is a phase where you are self-reliant and will enjoy contemplating your progress. Cancer This is a time that could be creatively inspiring, since the Moon is the source of creativity, and therefore rewards artists, writers or creative professionals by being a Muse. For others, this is a time to heed your intuition, since the Moon is all about illusions and facing your fears. Growth is often heralded by facing your deepest fears. You have many talents and there is a lot that you can do. However, do pick out one task and work on it, else there is a tendency to be caught in fantasies, and have nothing concrete to show for it. If there are choices, being offered to you, be very sure that you know what you want, since sometimes “wishes do come true..”. As the saying goes, “All that glitters is not gold”. Be wary of choosing the choice that seduces, since it may lack substance. Do check the fine print before you sign up for anything. Libra The only thing constant in life is change. The best way to ride over the change is to stay calm and relinquish control. Do center yourself, so that you can choose to make good decisions when the Wheel of Fortune begins to turn. Take your time to let things go, and then turn your gaze to things that give you joy for they will help you find your way back to happiness. Sagittarius This could be the month when wisdom asserts itself in the form of self-examination of your values, keeping in mind what it is that you want to fight for and what are you willing to pay for it. - 2020 & The Tarot: A guide to Spiritual Wellness
2020 was ushered in with a big bang and mega plans the world over, be they personal, communal, or fiscal. After all, the economy of the world was robust and according to the International Monetary Fund the economy of the World grew by 2.9% in 2019, as reported by CNBC. In December 2019, the World was at the brink of the precipice that virologists had been dreading and warning about for a long time. In January 2020, the situation grew worse and spiraled out of control. Before we knew it, we had all been thrust into a new normal, which makes 2019 seem as far as the stars!! John Donne, the Metaphysical British Poet and Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral in London(1621) had written " No man is an island entire of itself ", since he knew that we all need each other and in his wistful sermon he very poignantly mentions " any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. " 2020 with all its technological advancement or perhaps because of them, has thrown us back into hearing the bell toll again and again, with so many lives lost, and so much sorrow and uncertainty. At no time in our recent history has it been so apparent that we are, after all, a global village. We are all connected and we all share a common fate. Families have been separated for almost a year as those who live in different countries have been unable to travel. People have been forced to stay away and have been cut off from the very connection that is taken for granted. We are learning how little we need to stay happy, and how all our technological blessings that keep us in touch are not enough! Those for whom the bell tolls have embarked on their journey with only a handful to see them off, leaving the ones who did not have a chance to say goodbye forlorn and heartbroken. Anxiety, depression and financial and emotional uncertainty have been the prevalent sentiment. Amongst all these has been an increase in the number of people seeking comfort through their faith, organized religion or the Tarot and other esoteric devices. I presume it is because we do seek a spark or that force greater than ourselves who will carry us through this crisis. In a time like this, the Tarot has been a wonderful device, since the images on the tarot connect with something bigger than ourselves. The tarot helps one access the universal pool of consciousness since images speak so much louder than words. It is precisely the quality of the picture to say more than a thousand words that it expresses that which we knew and felt but had no words to express. By using the cards, it is easy to create a snapshot of the psyche at a given time and then know what issues a person is dealing with, in very Jungian terms. The Tarot thus does in a very spiritual manner what the Rorschach inkblot test does in psychotherapy, which is leaving an image to hint at or display the state of mind of the participant. If one is to believe in the Universal life force, then the use of the tarot accurately pins down the state of the mind, thereby offering the seeker, a peek behind the veil that separates our world from the collective stream of consciousness or the dream realm where everything is connected. That astral plane connection is what has been very uplifting and has helped people through a difficult time. The Tarot opens doorways to the collective unconscious and to our own intuition, thereby allowing a flow of creativity and this particular time when people have been forced to contemplate their solitude has unlocked a lot of creativity. The use of the cards as a meditative mechanism has also been very healing. There are many views about the Tarot, but in a time of trial, it is, without doubt, a great tool that can help us put a finger on an emotion, name it and then bring healing to make us complete. After all Eliphas Levi, the modern Occultist had written in his 1896 text, Transcendental Magic: Its Doctrine and Ritual, that "An imprisoned person with no other book than the Tarot, if he knew how to use it, could in a few years acquire universal knowledge, and would be able to speak on all subjects with unequaled learning and inexhaustible eloquence." Perhaps that theory has been put to the test in 2020 with people under lockdown and been found to have merit. Images Used on The Site. - Judgement
Judgement shows a very biblical image of souls being called to rise to their life's purpose. Judgement appears when you are going through a spiritual awakening. The soul is on its journey to find its true purpose. The Angel is blowing the horn calling you into action. The horn has a flag attached to it which shows a red cross . This is not a Christian Cross, but a pagan one. It represents crossroads that one may find themselves at. Judgement is that stage in your life when you decide that you want to release yourself into a life that is in tune with your inner purpose or compass . We see people rising out naked from coffins and hearing the call of the angel. This signifies that one intuitively knows where one has to go. The coffins are limiting beliefs and obsolete behavior that can be dropped or shed off and left behind. Judgement is your time to answer your inner call or wake-up call if you will, and take that path on life's crossroads that leads you to your intuited destination. To be born into a new life, the old has to die and that is another interpretation of the coffins that float on the river of forgetfulness. Just as the souls pass through Lethe and induce forgetfulness so that they do not carry baggage, this is your call to shed the baggage and leave things that no longer serve you as you move into a new life. This is your time to create a change and leave the redundant. Your life is about to grow in a manner that will make you feel lighter in your step. Drop your baggage, breathe, and release yourself into a better life now!! Meditation on Judgement “I’m going to do what I want to do. I’m going to be who I really am. I’m going to figure out what that is.” – Emma Watson What crossroad are you at? What kind of life do you want for yourself? What are you leaving behind? - Seven of Swords
The Seven of Swords shows us a man looking over his shoulder whilst tiptoeing out of an enemy camp, with the swords he can grasp. It is a credit to his thoughtfulness that he is leaving behind two swords so the enemy is not completely defensive. There are times in life when one needs to be diplomatic. Sometimes saying what is at the tip of your tongue may not be the wisest thing to do. The Seven of Swords is a time when you are being asked to think out of the box and change the manner in which you have been operating. This is a good time to begin to soothe old wounds and allow both doubt and regret to wash over you. Perhaps the shining sun will now show you things and you may see the other camp and observe their motivations. For now, it is a good time to even the playing field with your agility, resourcefulness and astuteness. This card definitely talks about mind games and asks you to think your way out of a problem. Brawn, brute strength may only serve to cause harm. This card distasteful as it is, is about underhanded dealings. The man here is a spy, after all. Do make sure that your house is in order, and so as not discuss your plans- personal or professional with anyone for there can be the stealing of ideas involved as well. If you relate to the man on the card, then do remember that being ethical and being smart can go hand in hand. The man is carrying the swords in a manner that is dangerous and can cut through his hands. The card reminds you that sneaking on someone can cause problems so do safeguard yourself. Perhaps the most potent advice of this card is that sometimes you need to stand up for yourself and take what is due to you if it is not offered up. The man is not without heart and he does leave behind two swords when he can clearly carry them all away!! So if you need to take what's yours, do so, since no one is going to offer you a silver platter. Be clear about what you want and go for it while avoiding the drama that will ensue if you plan to announce your intentions to the world. Meditation on the Seven of Swords “If what you’ve done over the past 5 years hasn’t worked for you, then change what you’re doing or the next 5 years will be the same” John Carlton, The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Getting Your Shit Together What do you need to change to get the results you need? Have you secured your home, work and intellectual property against any possible theft? What is due to you, that you need to take back? How can you be ethical and sneaky simultaneously? - The Suit Of Swords
The Minor Arcana represents a slice of life. The Suit of Swords in the Minor Arcana corresponds to the element of air. The cardinal direction that they represent is East and the season is spring. It is thought that the Suit of Swords was meant to represent the nobility and the military. The Swords are a masculine, active, yang element. They correspond to the spades in modern playing cards. The Swords represent the intellect, communication, conflict to a certain extent and the effect it has on the emotional side, in terms of being subjected to aggression or becoming a victim. Since the element of air represented by the Swords is associated with the mind, it is usually twin-edged. As Milton had mentioned, “ The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven”. The mind thus is an instrument both of pleasure and of torture. The Swords highlight the extraordinary capacity of the mind. The swords touch upon rationality and the intellect so the focus is on that aspect of the psyche. They represent ambition, and planning and executing of tasks leading up to that end. As a result of its association with the mind, the swords also rule communication and writing, education and intellectual pursuits come under the arena of the Swords. In the positive aspect, the swords deal with fairness, justice, logic, sound rationality, analytical thinking, enterprising and problem-solving. The power of the rational mind and logic can be helped to bring healing to a situation when emotions threaten to overwhelm us, as is seen in the Six of Swords. Reversed, however, or on the negative side, the swords deal with conflicts, stress and mental imbalances which result as cause, paranoia, delusion, depression, aggression, victimization, insomnia, mental anguish and torture. The Nine of Swords showcases the mind as a potent instrument of torture. Swords cards are unwelcome in a reading since they represent the trials that we are subjected to. Even the Ace of Swords which is a gift is shown as twin-edged with the power to liberate and wound. The Swords offer the gift of intellectual perception, but that perception does not make life easier in any manner. In fact, that very perception complicates life, and thus the twin-edged Ace. In NLP, it is said that the subconscious mind stores away unpleasant experiences so that it can present them to the conscious mind when the individual is in a better state to access, accept and release that memory. The Suit of Swords casts a light on how these repressed memories and feelings lead to depression, paranoia, anguish, neurosis, and a multitude of other mental illnesses. The Two of Swords presents indecision and the Eight of Swords the inability to be able to see the way out of a situation. The signs associated with the Swords are the air signs of Aquarius, Gemini and Libra. On the positive side, the Swords court is logical, rational, driven, just, balanced, brilliant at communication, creative and possibly great readers since their mind is very active. On the negative side, they could be cold, distant, devoid of emotion, rigid, domineering, and argumentative. When there is a high concentration of Swords in a reading, It implies that the seeker may be having a very difficult time, and is under a lot of mental anguish, arguments, stress, conflicts both internal and external. It can often be linked to being pressured by someone, as in the Five of Swords, or being hurt by slander as in the Ten of Swords. It is a good idea to seek help if that is the need of the hour. A basic timing map of the Swords cards has been presented below.
